FAQ

The hike is divided into classes as follows.

Class A  - no age restrictions - Male, Female or mixed.

Class B - for under 18* years (Explorer Scouts) - Male, Female or mixed.

Class C - no age restrictions - Male, Female or mixed.

Class E - for over 15* and under 18* years (Explorer Scouts) - Male, Female or mixed.

Class S - for teams of 4 all under 15* years with a minimum combined age of 48 (Scouts) - Male, Female or mixed.

Class V - for teams of 3 with a minimum combined age of 100 (Fellowship & Leaders) - Male, Female or mixed.

Downsman Open – No age restrictions - Male, Female or mixed. Under 14’s to be accompanied by a responsible adult (over 18). This will be for fun and experience only. No trophies will be awarded for this event.

*  Please note that minimum and maximum ages stated must be strictly adhered to and apply on the day of the event.

Where combined ages are a condition of entry, please note that only whole years will be counted. e.g. I am 44 years old, not 44 years, 9 months and 25 days old (or at least I was when I first wrote that!).

Please see the relevant page for full details of each Class.

IT IS EXPECTED THAT TEAMS WILL HAVE HAD SUITABLE TRAINING AND PREPARATION FOR THE HIKE, AND THAT ALL MEMBERS ARE PHYSICALLY FIT.

Three team members must book in at ALL Checkpoints and the complete team, i.e. 4 members, apart from Classes C and V, at ALL Service areas. Failure to do this will automatically disqualify the team.

Teams must also ensure that their Tally Card is presented and clipped at each Checkpoint and Service Area reached en-route. Failure to obtain a valid clip at a checkpoint or Service Area will result in the team having to back-track to obtain the clip, or automatic disqualification.
